So many people struggle with problems, depression and hardships. We all need to know there is always hope and a way out. For me, I am grateful that God is always there to guide me.
In any dark place I will find light; but I must first believe there is a light in order to find it. Carol Bettino, MA, LPC

lately the light in the tunnel has been that of an oncoming train .. but yet i still don't waver.
ReplyDeleteI don't think "so many" people deal with this, but We ALL deal with this. If we did not, we would not be human.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol...it is interesting how easy it is for us to become overwhelmed and insist on always looking at the massive "big picture" rather than "chunk things down" to a manageable size. In my practice it is so common to see clients completely immobilized by this sense of "no hope" and "impossibility" with regard to successfully dealing with formidable life challenges. Sometimes it IS just a matter of helping them "see the light" or know that the worst that could happen is often not as bad as they had thought. Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. A number of years ago, I was going through a very difficult time and was trying to figure something out. I don't remember now what it was about, I just remember I was extremely upset. I could not seem to find the answers by using my intellect, or by feeling my emotions, or via any kind of past psychological or spiritual processing technique I had ever used. This threw me into an absolute panic`mode. I then asked God to help me get out of panic mode, and then the thoughts that came to me were that there is always an answer in there somewhere, but sometimes only God has that answer, and you have to trust that God can and will give you that answer and that you have the ability to hear it from God. So, I trusted that God was going to help me with it and give me the answer to it, and He did, almost immediately, and then my panic vanished. What that experience taught me was that we cannot always rely on our own understanding and wisdom because we are always still growing and learning and we don't always know everything and have the answer to everything, and that's perfectly okay. Sometimes only God can show us what we need to know. I have always remembered that experience I had that day, and it has given me such peace, hope, trust and faith that there is always a solution, always a new understanding to be given to us by God, and that we never have to fear because we can't find an immediate understanding, answer or solution -- because all we have to do is ask God for it and He will give us the answer, and it is truth and understanding that heals our fears.
